Description

On a sunny day in January, my friend and I hiked up Mesa de Guadalupe, rising over 1,000 ft. from its base, in the Jemez mountains of northern New Mexico, known for their striking scenery with red rock cliffs. We loved the beauty and adventure of this hike, navigating a route that wasn't a trail for the first section. The top of the mesa is full of structures and pottery sherds from the ancestral puebloan city of Astialakwa.
